The Progressive Left Utopia Time Machine

Every time an event happens, whether it be a hurricane hitting Texas or Florida or a mass shooting in Las Vegas, progressive left pundits crawl out from under their rocks and begin telling the world what should have been done to prevent this.  Wisdom is complete with hindsight.  However, someone like Jimmy Kimmel gets up in front of his Trump-hating audience and cries.  He says that “we need to do something.”  He will not say what.  He simply calls it vaguely  “gun control.”  What he is saying is that we need one more law that would have prevented the Las Vegas shooter from getting guns.  Then we need to get into our progressive left utopia time machine and enact that law.  The trouble is this:  people are flexible, resourceful, novel and rarely rational.  So a 9,000 page law to stop this guy in Las Vegas would not stop him.  That one loop hole would be found.  In other words, sin and evil cannot be prevented by laws and r...

God, Government and Guns

If I wanted to create a society where people, for no reason at all, would buy lots of guns and shoot down on a country western concert, I would first remove God and the Bible from every school, every news cast, every government event and from daily life.  I would then replace God and the Bible with self-esteem, telling people that they are correct and right, no matter what they think or feel.  I would train up children to believe that there are no standards, no ethics and no morals except what they invent.  It will take a couple of generations, because I have to wait for these kids to grow up and have kids of their own, but eventually, I would craft a society where evil reigns, government stands up as god and people can beat down other people, shoot other people, and perform any violence they want and there will be no consequences. If you did not catch it, that is what we have done in America.  Piece by piece God and his Word have been removed from daily life and n...

Waking up to a Tragedy

I wend to the gym this morning and every TV was tuned to news about the late night Las Vegas shooting,  The latest news report I saw said 58 had been killed and over 500 were being treated for injuries.  The gunman had also been killed.  This is an act of our evil by a man of pure evil.  No law could have stopped this because laws cannot prevent evil.  I have not seen any politician turn this into an "us" vs "them" situation, which is wonderful.  It is sad, and it needs to convict our politicians, that it takes something like this to bring us all together. I applaud President Trump for keeping silent and even having a public moment of silence.  Even now, it is still too early to know exactly what happened, even though the FBI is working very diligently. The news is all about this question:  Is it terrorism?  Once again we are wondering what they mean.  The victims were terrorized,  It was not Muslim terrorism or state sponsored ...

Thoughts on Legacy

Legacy is that thing people leave behind.  It is what people talk about after a person retires or dies or leaves office.  Presidents, it seems are very concerned about legacy.  The truth is, however, a person can never fully choose their legacy, especially as president.  We can tell a person’s legacy by how the late night comics and news commentators talk about them.  I am sure President Bill Clinton had all sorts of dreams on what his legacy in the Oval Office would be, but all people remember, is that he had sex in that Oval Office.  That is his legacy.  Ronald Reagan did all sorts of stuff with taxes, but people remember that  he said "Tear down that wall" and they did. For some people, their legacy is exactly what they wanted.  Jerry Lewis left a strong legacy of slapstick and goofy humor that has been copied by hundreds of comics over the generations.  Huge Hefner left a legacy of porn and degrading women.  As long as he got ...

Thoughts on Podcasts

Podcasts are audio or video files that are downloaded to a mobile device and listened to or watched.  Many can be listened to and watched on the web.  The name Podcast came from Apple.  Many years ago when Apple just had the classic MP3 player, Apple began supporting and listing Podcasts in their iTunes app.  The Apple Music player was called an iPod.  Also these sound files were usually regularly released like broadcast TV shows, so these files were called Podcasts. I use two different programs to listen to Podcasts on my devices.  I use Overcast and Pocketcast .  I used Pocketcast for years when Overcast came on the scene.  Overcast got great reviews, mostly because the developer was very well known in the tech community.  So I got it.  I switch between the two every couple of months.  The latest Pocketcast is very well done.  Both Overcast and Pocketcast work well on the iPhone and iPad.  Overcast has a web player, w...

The Government and Social Media

Yesterday the Congress of the United States of America called the leadership of Twitter, a publicly held, private company, into a closed door session.  They asked Twitter, according to leaks, what they were doing to root out “fake” twitter accounts.  This comes from the news report that Russian actors used Twitter to a much greater effect than Facebook during the 2016 election. The first thing the American people need to understand is that most people in Congress cannot even spell Twitter.  As for knowing what it is and how it operates, they are clueless.  This is one reason the Deep State was caught with their pants down when President Trump started using Twitter to communicate with the American people. The second thing is that Twitter is the medium.  If someone goes to a rally and says that they want to blow up the White House, the government does not regulate microphones or speakers, they should have arrested Madonna.  The person committing the crime...
