Waking up to a Tragedy

I wend to the gym this morning and every TV was tuned to news about the late night Las Vegas shooting,  The latest news report I saw said 58 had been killed and over 500 were being treated for injuries.  The gunman had also been killed.  This is an act of our evil by a man of pure evil.  No law could have stopped this because laws cannot prevent evil.  I have not seen any politician turn this into an "us" vs "them" situation, which is wonderful.  It is sad, and it needs to convict our politicians, that it takes something like this to bring us all together.

I applaud President Trump for keeping silent and even having a public moment of silence.  Even now, it is still too early to know exactly what happened, even though the FBI is working very diligently.

The news is all about this question:  Is it terrorism?  Once again we are wondering what they mean.  The victims were terrorized,  It was not Muslim terrorism or state sponsored terrorism.  Evil is evil, murder is murder, mass murder is mass murder.  It does not matter if it was done by a crazy person or a religious zealot.

The Bible clearly says what it wrong with the world.  Satan temps, people’s evil nature responds and people are carried away into sin.  Usually it is a lie or stealing or sins that do not make the national news.  Rarely someone goes all the way into absolute, total, over the top evil.  People have two choices:  Either run to God for comfort and solace or run back to progressive politics.  God allows these things to draw and drive and push people toward him.

Lastly, there has to be someone who turned this into a political event.  Hayley Geftman-Gold said she had no sympathy for the people in Las Vegas because Republicans usually listen to country music.  She was a Vice President lawyer at CBS and CBS fired her immediately.

There is extreme evil in this world.  22,000 people gathered for an outdoor concert and one very evil man decided to ruin everything.  Evil will not reign.  God is still on the throne.  Run to him, cling to him and don’t blame him for the mess we have made of the world.  Get right with God, that is the only thing that will stop the evil.

Cornerstone Fellowship

Cornerstone Fellowship started preaching truth in 1946, right after WW II.  It has been a light in a changing community and a changing world for the past 70 years.  Currently I am the pastor of Cornerstone.  My name is Michael L. Wilson.  It is my goal to preach truth and to explain truth to all who attend.   We subscribe to the reformed view of Christianity which includes the  Five Solas , or the five foundational "only" beliefs.   If you are looking for a Christ Centered church, let me recommend  Cornerstone Fellowship

Thoughts on “agnostic”

Prior to being a pastor I was a believer in Jesus Christ.  I was raised in church and sought out a church every Sunday no matter where I was.  In other words, I consider myself a true believer in Jesus Christ and the Christian religion.  I am an exception in today’s society.  People who are willing to stand up and state that they are basing their lives on the teaching of Jesus Christ is rare. Many years ago, when I was a computer programmer, I worked with all sorts of people.  Buddhists and Hindus and even some Christians.  Most of the tech crowd were what I would call “casual atheists.”  This means that they never gave church or the Bible a second thought.  They go through life and never think about God.  If asked, many would say they believe in God, probably because they were taken to church as a child.  But any definition of this God could not be given by most of these people. One person I meant actually called himself an agnostic .  Agnostic is a Greek word which literally mean
