Thoughts on “agnostic”

Prior to being a pastor I was a believer in Jesus Christ.  I was raised in church and sought out a church every Sunday no matter where I was.  In other words, I consider myself a true believer in Jesus Christ and the Christian religion.  I am an exception in today’s society.  People who are willing to stand up and state that they are basing their lives on the teaching of Jesus Christ is rare.

Many years ago, when I was a computer programmer, I worked with all sorts of people.  Buddhists and Hindus and even some Christians.  Most of the tech crowd were what I would call “casual atheists.”  This means that they never gave church or the Bible a second thought.  They go through life and never think about God.  If asked, many would say they believe in God, probably because they were taken to church as a child.  But any definition of this God could not be given by most of these people.

One person I meant actually called himself an agnostic.  Agnostic is a Greek word which literally means “no knowledge.”  An agnostic would say, considering religious matters, they just don’t know.  In the modern world, how can anyone say they don’t know anything about religious matters.  My response would be, “then do some research.”  Google the word “religion” and see what the internet says.  Claiming ignorance makes no sense unless they actually block their eyes and ears from religious things, which would be, once again, impossible in todays world.  Today when I was in the grocery store a local lady came through with a sign saying “Repent” and shouting that everyone was going to hell.  That is religious thought and information, whether it is true or not, it is religious speech.  An agnostic who saw and heard that could now say they know something because they have experienced that.

The agnostic I knew at work was an active agnostic.  This mens that he actively counted as suspect all religious information that came his way.  He was, in many ways, not an agnostic, but a religious skeptic.  He did not believe anything, except that fact that he did not know.   I told him plainly that there will be no agnostics in heaven.  All agnostics, atheists, believers in false religions and workers of the magical arts are all going to the lake of fire.  Jesus will not accept, as a valid defense on the last day, “I did not know.”  Ignorance will be no excuse.  Especially today when anyone can get 500 Bibles on their phone for free, “not knowing” is an active choice and not a default position.

Agnostics are spiritual weenies who need to pick a side.  I have much more respect for an atheist who knows why they believe there is no God. I have much more respect for a devoted Hindu or Muslim.  They are all going to hell, but I can respect their devotion.  Agnostics are wet rags of indecision.  There is more information about the Bible and Jesus Christ today than any other time in history.  People today truly are without excuse.

Thoughts on Dinosaurs

There is a commercial on TV where there is a flying lizard and a larger flying lizard comes along side.  This is advertising some dinosaur exhibit at some learning center of museum in Northern California.  When we see animations like this, some may think that this is actually what ancient reptile beasts looked like.  When we think of dinosaurs, we need to understand a few things. We have no idea what dinosaurs looked like.  We have no idea what any of them sounded like.  We don’t know what color they were or what texture their skin was (mostly). We have no idea what they ate.   We have no idea if they were friendly and docile or violent and full of rage. We have no idea how they walked, how fast they walked or if any of them flew. We have no idea why we don’t have any dinosaurs on earth anymore. This is because we have never found a dinosaur.  In fact we have only found the spaces where their bones were.  When a dinosaur died, it may have gotten buried.  All the skin and mus
