Evil is not make-believe

Recently there was the story of a couple of people who demanded that evil was a make-believe construct to explain complex people.  To prove their point, they got on a plane and went to the middle east.  They then began to bicycle across the desert.  A car drove by the western dressed couple, turned around and ran them over.  The five Muslims in the car then got out and stabbed both people to death and they kept on stabbing.  This is because, the Muslim’s said, they were cleansing the world of unbelievers.

These two people had a radical misunderstanding of how the world works.  They are now dead and they are in torment awaiting final judgment when they will be sent to the lake of fire for all eternity.

This is because evil is not make-believe.  Evil is a real thing.  I say thing because it is an action, a belief, a worldview and there are beings who are pure evil in the spirit world.  Today we call them Satan and his demons.  They are all equally evil, because when every motivation is evil, it is hard to top that.  However, at the end of time, Satan will be cast into the lake of fire without a trial.  His demons will soon follow.

Additionally, people are not good but desperately wicked.  People are totally depraved and every last person seeks out selfish, self-serving evil.  People in their natural state have every inclination of every thought to be evil, all the time.  There is nothing good in a natural person.  These two people, who were clean cut, financially well off and well known as kind people were desperately wicked.  This is because they denied the existence of their creator.  They did not recognize him nor glorify him.  Instead they glorified themselves and the entire human race.

Sadly their world view is the same world view of the progressive socialists.  Nancy Pelosi, Berni Sanders, Hillary Clinton and that new socialist that is taking the media by storm.  They all believe that people are basically good and that society has oppressed people and forced them to do bad things.  Their political belief is that we only need to give people enough money and education and they will do the right thing.  Of course for the Socialist, the right thing has nothing to do with righteousness or God.  The right thing for them is to completely turn themselves over to the state.

The Bible is clear that there is a creator.  People who do not believe in the Bible and who do not believe in God still have a creator.  Our believe does not enable or disable God.  God created people and involved them in a covenant.  The Old Covenant was a covenant of works and sacrifices.  The New Covenant is based on the cross of Christ.  It requires that people repent of their sin (of unbelief) and believe in and on Jesus Christ.  Then, instead of giving yourself over to the state, you give yourself over to the Christian way of life.  People in this covenant attend church, read their Bible, love other Christians and repent from their life of sin, living the way Christ has commanded.  Of course totally depraved people think this Christ person is a total fiction and they will be judged and punished for all eternity for their lack of belief.

Cornerstone Fellowship

Cornerstone Fellowship started preaching truth in 1946, right after WW II.  It has been a light in a changing community and a changing world for the past 70 years.  Currently I am the pastor of Cornerstone.  My name is Michael L. Wilson.  It is my goal to preach truth and to explain truth to all who attend.   We subscribe to the reformed view of Christianity which includes the  Five Solas , or the five foundational "only" beliefs.   If you are looking for a Christ Centered church, let me recommend  Cornerstone Fellowship

Thoughts on “agnostic”

Prior to being a pastor I was a believer in Jesus Christ.  I was raised in church and sought out a church every Sunday no matter where I was.  In other words, I consider myself a true believer in Jesus Christ and the Christian religion.  I am an exception in today’s society.  People who are willing to stand up and state that they are basing their lives on the teaching of Jesus Christ is rare. Many years ago, when I was a computer programmer, I worked with all sorts of people.  Buddhists and Hindus and even some Christians.  Most of the tech crowd were what I would call “casual atheists.”  This means that they never gave church or the Bible a second thought.  They go through life and never think about God.  If asked, many would say they believe in God, probably because they were taken to church as a child.  But any definition of this God could not be given by most of these people. One person I meant actually called himself an agnostic...
