More Thoughts on Holiness

Once a person truly believes in the work of Jesus Christ and the blood of Christ is applied to the believer’s sins, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in the believer and the process of sanctification begins. Remember than sanctification means to make holy. No one will ever attain holiness in this life, on this earth, except Jesus, who came with it and left with it. However, we must function as believers which requires us to interface with God almighty in prayer and study. How can unholy people do this? The answer is imputed righteousness.

Jesus Christ lived a perfectly righteous life while on this earth. He knew the Law, the Mosaic Covenant, and kept every part of it. Every command was obeyed by Christ. Then they killed him. Upon his death, everyone who has their sin covered by Christ, receives Christ’s righteousness also. This righteousness is placed in the believer like a robe. It does not belong to the believer and the believer did not participate in this righteousness in the lease. It is an imputed and alien righteousness. Therefore, when a believer interfaces with God the Father, God sees the righteousness of Christ, not our sin. God the Father sees the obedience of Christ, not our sin. All of this goodness is by grace. It is is gift, it is not earned.

Believers who claim that God is punishing them for their sin or somehow making their life worse because of their sin are wrong. God does not see your sin, know your sin or remember your sin. When we sin, however, we have to live with the natural consequences of our sin. Our sin still exist and needs to be confessed and repented from. God will still discipline and guide and correct and train believers. This can be uncomfortable and can be misunderstood as punishment, but it is not. Believers need to live up to the holiness that has been placed on us. This means we study and grow and follow the impulses and leading of the Holy Spirit. We live and move and have our being in the things of God. Through this life, we learn to live to please God. This is done by attending church, praying, reading and studying the Bible. This is done by being sensitive to God’s leading.

When it is all said and done, after Christ returns and creates the new heaven and the new earth, the Holy Spirit will leave believers and Christ’s righteousness will be removed. Believers will have holy, sinless, glorified and perfect bodies, minds, wills and beings. In that day, we will live in the presence of God and everything will be glorious for all eternity. We will not sin and we will be unable to sin. All sin will be removed from creation for all eternity. In that day we will all be on the same side and we will all be righteous and holy and in the presence of God.

Thoughts on Dinosaurs

There is a commercial on TV where there is a flying lizard and a larger flying lizard comes along side.  This is advertising some dinosaur exhibit at some learning center of museum in Northern California.  When we see animations like this, some may think that this is actually what ancient reptile beasts looked like.  When we think of dinosaurs, we need to understand a few things. We have no idea what dinosaurs looked like.  We have no idea what any of them sounded like.  We don’t know what color they were or what texture their skin was (mostly). We have no idea what they ate.   We have no idea if they were friendly and docile or violent and full of rage. We have no idea how they walked, how fast they walked or if any of them flew. We have no idea why we don’t have any dinosaurs on earth anymore. This is because we have never found a dinosaur.  In fact we have only found the spaces where their bones were.  When a dinosaur died, it may have gotten buried.  All the skin and mus
