Thoughts on the End of it all

The fourth aspect that must be included in every world view is this: how does it end? The two basic choices every world view has is this: There is either something after death or nothing. Also world views can contain teachings about the end of time when existence as we know today is gone.

Fundamental secularists, humanists, progressives and atheists are all nihilists. They believe there is nothing or nothing knowable after this life. They also believe there are no consequences or judgement after this life. They live for today. The biblical mockery of eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you will die, fits these people. Their goal is living for today, gaining all they can today, because tomorrow does not matter. Humanists say that when people die, they cease to exist with no memory, no spirit, no soul, no consequences, no accountability…..nothing.

Hindus and Buddhists believe in an eternal reincarnation cycle. There are vague mentions of joining with your favorite god after trillions of reincarnations, however, their core teaching is that reincarnation goes on forever. People, animals, planets and the universe all are reborn trillions upon trillions of times, then it all starts over again. The truly righteous and spiritual may enter a heavenly realm, where the gods live, but there is no clear teaching on how this happens or how to attain that.

Sikhs believe that everyone, when they die, become part of the god being, like a drop of water being added to the ocean. All individuality is lost. Eternity is spent being part of god. Sikhs believe in reincarnation, but reincarnation of the soul after death. After death, the soul matures and learns and grows until it is ready to be added to the eternal god. Everything a Sikh does they do for this life only. They take nothing with them into the afterlife. The Sikh goal is to experience heaven and avoid hell on earth during this life. The universe as we know it today, will continue forever.

Islam believes that Allah will get fed up with human antics, eventually, and will put a stop to it all. He will do this by sending (wait for it) Jesus Christ, who will, by supernatural power, convert the entire world to Islam. Then the entire world will be islam and live in perfect peace and harmony (like today?) under the king Muslim Jesus Christ. The world will be made perfect and people will live under Muslim rule for eternity. I wonder if Jesus is Shea or Sunni.

The Christian view is that God created the universe and people for a purpose. That purpose is to glorify God. The end of time will occur when the armies of the world try and make war with God. Jesus Christ will return at the battle of Armageddon, and kill all unbelievers. Satan, Anti-Christ and the false prophet will be thrown into the lake of fire. All the believers from all time will be taken to a wedding feast with Jesus Christ. While that is going on, Jesus will destroy heaven and earth and setup a throne to judge all who have denied Christ from all time. Unbelievers will be judged on their works and their relationship with Jesus Christ. Everyone of them will fail the judgement and will be cast into the lake of fire. Then a new heaven and new earth will be created and Jesus will reign with his people forever and ever.  Christians believe that every person who ever lived, from Adam to the last person to ever live will end up in either the new heaven and earth with Jesus or the Lake of Fire.  There is no third choice and all future destinations are eternal.

Cornerstone Fellowship

Cornerstone Fellowship started preaching truth in 1946, right after WW II.  It has been a light in a changing community and a changing world for the past 70 years.  Currently I am the pastor of Cornerstone.  My name is Michael L. Wilson.  It is my goal to preach truth and to explain truth to all who attend.   We subscribe to the reformed view of Christianity which includes the  Five Solas , or the five foundational "only" beliefs.   If you are looking for a Christ Centered church, let me recommend  Cornerstone Fellowship

Thoughts on “agnostic”

Prior to being a pastor I was a believer in Jesus Christ.  I was raised in church and sought out a church every Sunday no matter where I was.  In other words, I consider myself a true believer in Jesus Christ and the Christian religion.  I am an exception in today’s society.  People who are willing to stand up and state that they are basing their lives on the teaching of Jesus Christ is rare. Many years ago, when I was a computer programmer, I worked with all sorts of people.  Buddhists and Hindus and even some Christians.  Most of the tech crowd were what I would call “casual atheists.”  This means that they never gave church or the Bible a second thought.  They go through life and never think about God.  If asked, many would say they believe in God, probably because they were taken to church as a child.  But any definition of this God could not be given by most of these people. One person I meant actually called himself an agnostic...
